Genealogy Forms Will Help Keep Track Of Your Family History

It is very wise to have a book on genealogy and genealogy forms to help you begin your research. A good genealogy book will tell you where to start and guide you through the process depending on how far you want to expand on your family history. The first thing you must do is organize your genealogical records.

To organize these genealogical records you will need specific genealogy forms.  The family group records or the individual records are the logical genealogy forms to begin with. The individual genealogy form is the biography form and the family record sheet is the form that is used to keep track of the family data. It normally features references for each piece of information.

The next genealogy form that is needed is a pedigree chart. A pedigree chart shows you the complete family line. This form also features references for each lineage. The references used in making these charts depend on the author and how he wants to reference his family ancestors. It may be by culture or could simply be by geography. A pedigree fan chart will hold at least eight generations. A general family relationship chart is the family ‘graph’ paper. This is where family members or couples are written in boxes. There are usually optional lines to highlight the relationships. This chart is very helpful because you can find generations going down or across the chart.

A genealogy timeline form allows you to chart out specific family history events during arbitrary time periods. There are also genealogy cemetery forms that will keep track of your history in cemeteries. This is a great reference sheet and can keep track of a lot of information gathered at one cemetery. A genealogy research log form is a fairly standard form. It will keep track of the research you are performing on a specific individual in a particular locality. This form helps to keep those minute details from escaping your memory.

Finally, a correspondence log sheet is a valuable genealogy form that will help you to keep track of the letters you have sent to others for information. There is a document number that will refer to letters and responses that you have sent out and received. It helps to be organized when tracking your family history and genealogy forms will definitely help you do just that.
