Rooted in Ireland is an oak planting project in Drumconwell, which is just outside the city of Armagh in Ireland. The site of the tree is in 9 acres beautiful farmland, lush, overlooking the picturesque and hugely historic Cathedral City. This is the same ground that King Conwell addressed, once and indeed, are the remains of a strong ring of age, and a rock mass in the vicinity. This is an area full of Irish history, both ancient and modern. It has been Ireland's spiritual capital for 1500 years. It is the historic center of the congregation of St. Patrick, and the burial place of Brian Boru. It was a school from Now, for what is known as the city of saints and scholars. The history of the area is fascinating, reflecting 6500 years of activity. People came here in 4500 before of Christ and have been arriving ever since, attracted partly by the wealth of attractions including Cathedrals, museums, County Parks National Trust properties, the modern theaters, and a variety of restaurants, bars and music venues. One thing however that is much needed in the landscape, and that is the trees. The three directors of Rooted in Ireland, Patrick Nugent, Anne-Marie Nugent, and Peter Slevin had spent hours discussing the creation of a business that was wholesome and beneficial to the environment, while being unique to the area. Inspired by an article in an Australian newspaper about a similar project in Sydney, set to work clearing and land preparation, plot the course of the plantation, and finally, planting oak trees themselves. In August, with roots in two of the directors of Ireland were invited to have a seat on the Federation of Genealogical Societies annual convention in Boston, Massachusetts. The response to the project was outstanding, with all the promotional material gone in a matter of hours. The website target = "_blank"> (www.rootedinireland.com) has seen a huge increase in traffic since August, and people have been buying trees to give as a wedding, christening gifts, etc. Some have been bought in memory of grandparents and relatives who came to America from Ireland.
The directors have big plans for the project, and ultimately, the intention to plant 10,000 trees in total. The site will be developed more trees are purchased, and will include a visitor center in the house style of starvation, an observation deck, and various decorative features in keeping with the surrounding landscape. The project currently is being considered for funding from various grant agencies including the bed of the peace of the EU and will become an integral part of the experience of visitors when they arrive in Armagh. The directors have been encouraged to support, encouragement and support given to them by people from all walks of life. It seems that everyone can see the benefits of the roots in the ethos of Ireland, and this is perhaps summarized in the following Greek proverb: "A society grows great when people plant trees in whose shade they never sit in ".
