Family History Centers are operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have access to a wealth of genealogical records held at the Family History Library located in Salt Lake City, Utah. With over 4,500 centers of Latter-day Saints distributed throughout the United States and countries abroad, it is easy to find one near you.
Records in Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, include:
- Pedigree Resource File on compact discs and digital video discs
- International Genealogical records indexed
- Filed vital records on microfilm and microfiche
- History books of the Family
- Gazetteers
- Atlas
- Maps and more.
You can find this information resource centers or online through the website of Latter-day Saints. Internet connectivity is available in most of the centers, some with subscriptions to online sites for genealogical research. Pedigree Resource Files that are stored on disks CDs may also be available in schools for use in research or can be purchased online through the Latter Day Saints church € ™ s website.
These centers are designed to help the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints identify members their ancestors and provide temple ordinances. However, all are welcome to use the centers for research for free. There is a small fee to to microfiche, films and books in the Library in Utah to cover shipping costs.
Family History Centers are staffed by volunteers who can provide guidance about the Family History Library € ™ s family farms, answer some research questions, and help to use the Centera ™ € s resources. Also through these sites, you can order microfilm and microfiche, as well as the books of the Family History Library Salt Lake City, Utah.
Many schools also provide training classes in a variety of genealogical research topics of their customers. Hours history centers are determined by each school individually so you need to call and check availability before visiting.
