Who is behind dnaancestryproject.com and genebase.com? What are the potential pros & cons of sharing DNA info?

This looks extremely interesting and like it could be a really cool thing to do if (1) The DNA coding is NEVER shared with personally identifiable information (2) It’s not going into a database for some religion particularly concerned with genealogy.

They’re kinda balls really. They don’t determine anything. I read an article (I’m sorry, but I’ve forgotten it) where someone asked several companies to trace her ‘ancestory’ and they all came back with different answers.

The problem with this is that it’s not a phylogenic map. There are no species-specific traits which is what real DNA mapping uses to determine differences. So it’s all fairly hit and miss – DNA geanology is a waste of money. Email me if you have any further questions.
