Archived Obituaries…Genealogy Purposes?

does anyone know of sites for archived obituaries for the United States…specifically most of my family members lived in California…but I’m interested in locating an obituary for my GG-Grandfather, Frank L. Murphy who died in Tulare, California in 1965…
I have a membership to ancestry and other sites so I have all of his basic information, I’m just trying to get more concrete information on his background that may be found in his obituary like spouses etc.

I found him in an obituary index:

Tulare County Obituary Index – Mi – Mz
Murphy Frank L. (Rev) 104 1965 Jun. 21 TAR

That should help you find the exact newspaper where the obituary appeared.

I found both of these by doing exact searches by last name, comma, first name… and key words as follows:

“Murphy, Frank L” obituary tulare california
“Murphy, Frank” california
