I want to know what the story behind the fife player, drummer and the flag barer from the Revolutionary War. If you don’t know what i mean, here is a picture:

It’s a painting by Archibald Willard. He got the idea from seeing a parade. He used his father as a model for the middle character. It’s not from any historical event that I’ve been able to find.
