Irish clan of descent?

I am into genealogy and I have a lot of Irish in me, but I’m trying to find out what Irish clan I descend from and more about it. My surname is Collins.

That your surname is Collins might show a connection, but surnames change so often over time that isn’t assured. The only way to “find your clan” is to meticulously backtrack. But be warned, after a few generations you start getting into clan documents….these are NOTORIOUSLY let’s say non-factual. They have been copied and recopied over the centuries, and often rewritten for political purposes or to try to establish historical claims over certain lands.

Usually when you get back that far, you are really dealing with what I like to call “That’s cool, but who knows” confidence lines. You are using a lot of other people’s work, vice stuff you have certified yourself. But hey, it IS COOL. So good luck.
