Hmm.   And when did become a province of Saskatchewan, eh?   These details about the states, provinces, counties and other events can be overwhelming if try to remember all. No.   Start to develop a file – or the documents in their folders of Genealogy, or create a folder on your computer genealogy folder with specific dates and locations to keep of.A topic
For example, you may need to know when their ancestors emigrated to the U.S., to determine where his research entry.  Even if you think you know much about Ellis Island and immigration, did you know that was used for detection immigrants from these dates only? – January 1.1892 to 1924.    However, more than 400,000 immigrants were selected through the Barca Office (at the tip of Manhattan) in 1891 to the immigration office was officially opened. those dates, 1892-1924, would be useful in one hand Form. Before that time, Castle Garden (Castle Clinton) in the southern tip of Manhattan, New York City, was an immigrant reception center from August 1.1855 to 18 April 1890.  "Search for U.S. immigration, timeline" for more information, including how to search both Ellis Island and Castle records garden.
Do your ancestors come from North America from another country? a united Ireland, for example?  It would be nice to know when major famines occurred in Ireland (search for "famine, Ireland), a well as in most Irish families emigrating landed in Canada or the States. States or, if they crossed the sea to England, where they might have landed there?   If you are looking for the census in England, did you know that many counties borders changed several times, especially after 1974 Changes. Borders However, some changes before it time. A line of my family lived in the Black Midlands region, and city (Dudley) changed several times between the counties of Staffordshire and Worcestershire. was sure that others must have recorded the County incorrectly, until I found an article detailing the various changes in the limits! An online search for "Britain's counties, the changes "and you will find several excellent sites with details.Â
You can imagine how important this can be when looking through State / Province / Census country!   I have learned to check on the maps, and search the surrounding counties, states, provinces, where the investigation of an ancestor residences over time. It helps to have a map to see which county is located near the residence found one of your people moving ancestors. as the opportunities of open land, but often, they moved across the county line, and can be found easily – if you know that the Border others!
Here is an important point. We are used to record all events with the government, but that was not the case in days. of our ancestors, for example, lists of passengers are not required to register and presented until 1865 in Canada, from 1820 in the U.S. 1837, largely England.  In Germany, some vital records began in 1792, others not until 1876, varies from one state and not kept in a central repository. in general, birth, marriage, death registration were not required until a state or county or province, and had formed a records center. The date of "vital statistics" is varied worldwide, and you have to have the details of each place, to search successfully and effectively for their ancestors.
