Genealogy Marriages
Is there a totally free genealogy search?
I tried to find someone who died in 1939, but all sites seem to want to collect something. Are there any that are completely free of charge? I am looking for marriage dates, place of marriage, and date of death.
www.mytrees.com has a way to make withdrawals free searches for your site. You can build up over time and when you have an hour to find a use for their hours of harvest for searching through your database. Also depending on where the marriage or death took place may be able to search the websites of the genealogical society in the area and reach the dates that you need. I did a search for a marriage registration in Hampstead, Arkansas for genealogical societies, and found a marriage certificate given to 1874. When I wrote to the Genealogical Society who sent me the original file and keep a copy for themselves because I was the first family member to request it. You can also www.rootsweb.com used to search for other users of family trees for clues on what to go to court to obtain the records it needs. Although never a good idea to just take what someone else says as fact you need to verify the information. You can also post on message boards or even here for people to use care sites to find information for you. But there again track what information is given to you by someone more and when you get a chance to check the dates of the original documents.
