The census of Ireland was an inventory of household members across the country. Taken every 10 years between 1821 and 1911. The records usually list the people in Ireland by the parish and the county and the names, ages, place of birth, religion, and occupation of everyone in a household. It is a wonderful resource for discovering your Irish members of the family in the early centuries and 20 19.
However, when using census data for research in Ireland, it must be remembered that not all census survives. Several have been lost or destroyed during the decades since they were taken.
