"Projected History: A list of national histories produced by Noticiero Universal, Volume One, 1929-1930" is a comprehensive compilation of Universal information based on textual records and microfilm documentation.

This and subsequent volumes in the series are compiled and edited by Phil 'Chuck' W. Stewart, retired Air Force officer in the U.S., historical consultant for film and video, and television producer. Stewart also is an award winning author of previous three books: "Battlefilm," "War Wings" and "American Film Vault."

Phil focuses on the documented history U.S. and around the world, recorded by film cameras Noticiero Universal. This edition contains all the stories of national release during the two early years of production and distribution.

The news daily El Universal was released twice a week during 1929 and 1930. The productions included news highlights of the week, thought to be important or entertainment, including such topics as the evolution of the aircraft and shipping industry, beauty contests, sports, politics and celebrities. The format of the book includes short descriptions written at the time of the summary sheets of newscast. Stewart also has provided a complete and comprehensive title and subject indexes.

I enjoyed the frequent inclusion of "News of Humor" in editions above. This was a kind of predecessor of "America's Funniest Home Videos". Another feature appeared in late 1929 called "News from the paragraphs. "These were human interest stories, with interesting titles that caught my curiosity. The drawings include catchy phrases like" Stockholm Sweden – Fancy Steppers meet "- Novel hoofing 'features' 10 th anniversary of the League Folk Dancers." Volume 2, Number 95, Monday, November 24, 1930 included this holiday morsel: "New York, NY – Turkey collectors compete! Set stripping pen record of 30 birds in 50 minutes."

Phil Stewart has created an important work. The book includes all the stories Noticiero Universal launched nationally in the U.S. This is the first time a title the news Noticiero Universal, description, and availability have been compiled into a single reference work.

"Projected History" will become quickly recognized as an invaluable resource for film students, USA enthusiasts and world history, genealogy buffs, and those involved TV, video and multimedia communication services.
