Why is my mom keeping a secret from me?!?
I live in a very small community here in Kentucky where I believe I am related to most everybody in town. My mom recently slipped up and told me something that has me thinking that I wasn’t an only child (as I had been raised to believe). She said something about giving birth to “kids”. I noticed that she used the plural. She tried to cover it up but I wasn’t buying it.
I did an online search on a genealogy website recently and found out that my mom had another son who would be about 16 years older than me. He has the same name as my dad and was born here in town. I am wondering why she hasn’t ever talked with me about him.
I love my dad and would hate to bring this up to him because he obviously must know about his other son too. We are very close and do a lot of stuff together because he is still pretty young father. He’s really easy going and I think that is why he married a woman so much older than he is.
Any ideas on how to discuss this with my parents?
Some things are better left alone while your parents are still alive.
