Ireland’s People Genealogy

Who can I contact to find genealogy information in Ireland?

I understand that many of Ireland’s genealogy records were destroyed in WWI — I’d like to find out if there is any way to trace records of people entering and exiting the country in the early 1800′s.

I agree that the LDS www.familysearch.org site is one of the best for finding Irish records. Once you have used their online catalogue to identify the records you are interested in, you can order them at a family history centre near you (see the “Find a Family History Center” link on its front page).
Only 40% of Ireland’s records were destroyed in the uprising, so many still remain, although some of these can only be accessed by a visit to Ireland.
