Jackson Genealogy
Genealogy Help Please!!! Please take a look… i need help:(?
I am researching Joshua Jackson, who has a spouse named Kitty Jackson. That is exact spelling for both. He is an African American male who was born in 1830. I need some pictures of him with his family, some pictures of his tombstone, or his family tombstone, his father and mothers name, and just as much info as i can get about this person. I would really appreciate it. If you don’t know all of them then just give me the ones you do know. I have been researching on ancestry for days and i just need help gathering info, i need this by a couple days. So please if you guys could be kind enough to help me i would really appreciate it.
Ummm he lived in Grapevine Texas during the 1880′s.
His wife was born in Virginia, Kitty Jackson
I located the census for them in 1870, where both show Virginia as place of birth, and both show yr of 1820 for age of 50. No children are living with them. They will not show on any earlier census, and with no children, it is impossible to define when they moved to Texas.
In 1900, Kittie is a boarder with someone else in Dallas on Wadkins ave. She is shown as a widow, which is important. That means Joshua has died already. Texas did not keep birth/death records prior to 1903 (and often, not even then).. that means it is almost sure that there is no death certificate. That is the ONLY PLACE where you might have located even the possible parent’s names. What I am not sure about is that Kitty is listed that she has no children living. Is this an ancestor of yours?
There are some sad realities if you are working an African American line. They are almost sure to have been poor, and there is no guarantee of any tombstone. Those born PRIOR to the Civil war, as he was.. will not always know who is parents were. Family pictures… IF THERE ARE ANY.. are going to be among family members, which you are the only one who knows if there are any. If Kittie did not have a death certificate, the same is probably true for her.
People can only find what exists, and is online.
If this is for a school assignment, you have accomplished a lot to get this far.
