Why the Gospels of Matthew and Luke give the genealogy of Joseph, as the genealogy of Jesus?

The answer is much more simple. The "virgin birth" story originated later in the Christian church as a result of errors in translation from the Greek word Parthenos. The word used in Luke that Mary was parthenos really just meant "young woman" not "never had sex." According Lucas, Joseph was the father of Jesus as Mary was the mother of Jesus. (Yes, fundamentalists, give me thumbs down.)
