How can I search my genealogy thoroughly online?

I know you should ask your grandparents, about their grandparents. But I still need to recover some more information for my social studies project. I have to chose one person from along time ago in my family, and talk about them in a speech like way… in front of my class. Anyway I still can’t find anything online! Seriously if you go to my google page and type in ” african american genealogy”, the HOLE page will be purple, form places I’ve tried. Either the web site’s no good, it’s to complicated, or you have to pay to find you’re genealogy. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Do you have the name of a great-grandparent to research? And do you know where they lived? If so, post their name here (along with as much information as you have about them) and someone may be able to find some information for you. There are lots of helpful people here who will be happy to look for you.
