Anyone have information on the Cooney/McCausland lines around the Toronto/London/Middlesex areas of Ontario, Canada?

Approx. time would be from 1850 – 1890.

There was a McCausland that married Margaret Anne Cooney, and when he ran off with the midwife that delivered their second child, Margaret’s father (Patrick Cooney) was so furious that he burned all the old McCausland family records and listed Margaret as a widow in the census. I’m almost certain I’ve found the particular census record stating that, but what I need to know is what the first name of her husband was.

My Dad and I have no idea, but we think it’s either James or Jacob.

Any help would be appreciated
I forgot to mention that Margaret’s father also changed the spelling from McCausland to McCauslin
