Smith Genealogy

Mormom How do genealogy work? They have locations throughout the U.S.? Have everyone on the list?
I was told that the Mormon church Most cities will allow you to do your genealogy. There is no charge? Do the names of everyone born in the U.S.? How do I this type of research for my family? My maiden name is Smith's mother. Are there too many Smiths? How do I know where the closest place for me is? And if I go, I will try to "convert" me? Thank you.
Yes, LDS Family History Centers (libraries) everywhere. NO, not have the names of everyone, like most organizations in the genealogy of good reputation, to respect the privacy of living persons. And, no try to convert anyone. I'm not LDS .. but I did volunteer for a time at the local center. There was some mockery of my kind .. coffee and I respected his beliefs enough not to smoke until I was well out of the parking lot. For me .. the core of what they have is original microfilm records worldwide, as are local authorities were allowed to film. These are historical and original records, court documents is, that otherwise would be forced to travel to see. Such films are all available (or stored) in the local branch .. are sent on loan to them, with a small handling fee. Any movie that use a lot, are on long term loan, and you can watch the free, if they affect their area of interest. I have to meet other clients … always been good we had ancestors in the same area, and action movies (in order / to order another, both get to use). Another file is the IGI (International Genealogical Index), that contains both facts transcribed from original sources and the facts presented by members of the church, in connection with their ancestors. You can access much of this line. These files are not perfect .. but few online sources are right. In terms of being a mother Smith … FOCUS that you are not looking any Smith in the world .. birth certificate for her mother must include the names of its parent. If the grandfather is Ralph Smith, and is found in other records he was born in 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia .. you'll be looking to their parents in Atlanta. WHILE YOU FOLLOW regular steps (you work backwards, using Solid Documents), should never be out there, randomly looking for "any Smith, who might be related." LDS (they prefer this) is the world's largest collection .. is far from alone in the world. It's just one of the best known. My belief is that the more sources who know and use, the better your luck is. http://rwguide.rootsweb.com/ This is a guide you can get going.
