I wish to trace my ancestry, uk, america, turkey but free of charge. Can anyone assist?

I have already been in contact with latter day saints and genealogy.com and ancestry.com The last two only give you a trial period and thereafter have to pay. The Latter Day Saints were very informative but still need to research further. Thank you.

- RootsWeb.com (free, sponsored by Ancestry.com),
- Cyndi’s List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet,
- the “swiss army knife” of websites: Google.com (but there are some tricks to using it for genealogy);
- non-Internet non-computerized sources such as county courthouses and historical societies – the addresses are on the Internet (for your specific locations) but the information you will have to find “the old fashioned way” by looking it up.

If you need help:

- the Family History Centers of the Latter Day Saints (more than 3,500 around the world), and they occasionally offer classes or seminars on genealogy & family history; they sometimes have volunteers willing to help you get started.
You can find a list of addresses of FHCs at the FamilySearch.org website.

- try the Yahoo Groups for subject GENEALOGY (see URL below) – there are currently 2,813 Groups tagged as “Genealogy”; some Groups are specific to a surname or location or ethnicity, while others are “open non-specific”; many Group members are willing to do free look-ups and help with genealogy questions.
