England Genealogy Search?

I hit a wall with any information about my ancestors from England. I have a very common name. I am planning a trip to England next year. To see if I can find information. Perhaps the cemeteries, or where he lived? Maybe if I'm lucky to find the family? Does anyone have suggestions where to start looking? The only thing I have to go is to my great-grandparents were married in a church in Handsworth in the County Stafford. I have their marriage license, but only displays the name of the parents grandmothers side.
